From the moment you first take your business online, you must become preoccupied with building and developing your digital audience. For one thing, your digital audience opens up a new avenue for your business’ marketing and sales success. Your audience is your business’ lifeblood - a source of potential leads. Along with growing your digital audience, you’ll want to make sure you’re providing value through email, Facebook and Twitter - rather than just contributing to the extra noise already online. This way, you earn trust and credibility, which is critical for developing the relationships needed for closing more business.
ExactTarget, which is a SalesForce.com company, surveyed hundreds of digital marketers as part of their SUBSCRIBERS, FANS, & FOLLOWERS research series. Through this research, they pinpointed the behaviors and tactics which successful marketers use within their digital marketing mixes. The results, as shown in their infographic below, can provide you with the information you need to start building and developing your own digital audience.

Interesting to see such an emphasis on driving brand awareness - not a bad thing - versus gaining customer insight on social. I dig spreading the word about your brand but listening to customers or clients seems to be the greatest benefit on social. Great share!
Hi Ryan, thank you for your comments. I so agree that listening to customers and clients (and leads) is extremely important - and driving brand awareness is just one way to get the conversations started. Appreciate your insights!
